Located adjacent to Bahia Ballena (Whale Bay), Tambor is a relaxed yet vibrant hub for the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. The only airport in the area is located at Tambor, with several flights daily from San Jose that bring visitors out onto the peninsula to enjoy the world class tourism available everyday of the year.

Calm Pacific waters, friendly people, and sprawling coral sand beaches, restaurants, and hotels that receive visitors year around who come for the beautiful surroundings, the world class fishing, the snorkeling, scuba diving, and the marine migration seasons. The valley of Tambor lies cradled by lush hills of green forest that are part of the biological corridor of Costa Rica, with the Curu Wildlife Reserve to the north, and the Islas Tortugas just offshore and available by a short boat ride. Costa Rica is very eco-minded, and the 1st country to honor the catch and release fishing program.

The beaches of Tambor is an excellent place for swimming, the beach has no rip tides providing a vast open playground. Just a kilometer south of Tambor lies a fishing dock where fresh catches are available everyday. We offer scenic boat tours around the bay including the mangroves in the Pochote River across the bay.
